Emma stood in the middle of her new living room, admiring the ornate moldings and high ceilings. She had just moved into this charming, albeit slightly eerie, Victorian house. It was the kind of place she had always dreamed of, with its creaky stairs and mysterious atmosphere. Little did she know, it came with an unexpected resident.
Emma shivered, feeling a sudden chill. Turning around, she was startled to see a translucent figure standing by the fireplace. The ghost of Lord Harrison, a Victorian gentleman dressed in a waistcoat and top hat, bowed politely. "Good day, madam," he began, his voice echoing slightly. "Oh, um, hello? Who... who are you?" Emma stammered, trying not to panic.
Lord Harrison explained his predicament, claiming he was bound to the house until he fulfilled his purpose. "I am here to offer advice on matters of the heart and proper etiquette," he declared with a flourish. Emma raised an eyebrow, skeptical but curious. "I'm not sure I need dating advice from someone who's been dead for over a century," she replied with a hint of sarcasm.
Emma busied herself preparing dinner for Jake, her charming neighbor who had invited himself over. Lord Harrison hovered nearby, offering outdated suggestions. "Remember, a lady should always allow the gentleman to carve the meat," he advised. Emma rolled her eyes, trying to focus on not burning the roast.
Jake, a friendly and modern man, arrived with a bottle of wine. As they sat down to eat, Lord Harrison continued to provide commentary that only Emma could hear. "Remember to always compliment his waistcoat," the ghost insisted. "Your jacket looks... sturdy," Emma awkwardly complimented, earning a puzzled look from Jake.
As the evening progressed, Emma found herself laughing with Jake despite Lord Harrison's interference. She realized that while the ghost's advice was outdated, it brought a unique charm to her new home. "Thank you for the company, Lord Harrison," she whispered later, feeling a strange fondness for her spectral housemate. "It is my pleasure, madam," the ghost replied, tipping his hat with a ghostly smile.
