The Pig, broad-shouldered and pink, wipes sweat from his brow as he surveys his prize. The wolf, scruffy and gray-furred, struggles lightly against the ropes. A hush falls as the pig sharpens his knife, preparing to shave the wolf’s fur.
"Wait, wait! I have an idea," pleads the wolf, his voice trembling but cunning shining in his eyes. "What sort of idea could possibly save you now?"
The Wolf, clever and desperate, quickly speaks. "Let me record my experience—my final moments, the sensations, the story of being cooked alive. You’ll be famous, and so will I. Let the world see what happens here."
"A video, hmm?" The pig considers, rubbing his chin. "Very well, wolf. But no tricks—I'll hold the camera myself."
The Wolf tries to remain calm, breathing deeply as his skin is bared to the cool air. "For posterity, I suppose," he mutters with forced bravado. The pig grunts in response, his movements precise and unhurried, every so often glancing at the lens to ensure it catches the process.
The Wolf looks directly into the camera, his voice trembling but steady. "I can feel the heat rising, prickling my skin. The smells—herbs, onion, my own fear—mix in the air. The water bites at my legs, sharp and stinging. I can’t tell if I’m more afraid or curious. The pig stands over me, watching, ladle in hand."
"Keep talking, wolf. The world is watching," the pig urges, peering into the camera with a strange mix of pride and anticipation.
The Wolf gasps for breath, still narrating. "It’s getting harder to think... my paws are numb. The broth is everywhere. I hope someone out there learns from this—never trust a pig in an apron. I suppose this is... goodbye."
As he finally slips beneath the broth, the pig’s steady hand clamps the lid atop the pot. The fire crackles, sending sparks skyward as silence descends.
The Pig wipes his hooves on his apron, the scent of stew thick in the air. He surveys the quiet woods, a sly smile curling his lips as he contemplates his coming meal and newfound fame. The stars above blink down, silent witnesses to the end of the wolf’s tale.
