Milson and Hananiah walked slowly through the cemetery gates, their footsteps crunching softly on the gravel path. The peaceful silence enveloped them, broken only by the distant call of a mourning dove.
"I can't believe it's been a year," Milson said, his voice tinged with nostalgia as he gazed at the rows of headstones.
"Grandmother would have loved this evening," Hananiah replied, her eyes scanning the familiar landscape.
Hananiah knelt beside their grandmother's grave, tracing her fingers over the engraved letters. Milson stood beside her, lost in thought.
"She always had a way of bringing beauty into everything," Milson murmured, kneeling down to join his sister.
"Do you remember the stories she used to tell us?" Hananiah asked, a smile tugging at her lips.
Milson leaned back, looking up at the emerging stars. Hananiah hugged her knees, her gaze distant.
"She was always so wise," Milson said softly. "Remember the one about the hidden treasure?"
Hananiah chuckled, "She had a story for every occasion. I think she liked the idea of secrets waiting to be uncovered."
Hananiah's eyes widened as she carefully opened the journal, her fingers brushing over the familiar handwriting.
"Milson, look at this," she whispered, her voice filled with wonder. Milson leaned over, his curiosity piqued.
"It's her handwriting," he said, barely believing his eyes.
Hananiah read aloud, her voice trembling with emotion. Milson listened intently, the weight of the revelation settling over them.
"I never knew," Hananiah said, her eyes misty with tears. "It's like she's still speaking to us," Milson replied, his heart full of gratitude for their grandmother's enduring wisdom.
Milson and Hananiah walked back toward the gate, their hearts lighter, the journal clutched tightly in Hananiah's hands.
"Let's come back soon," Milson suggested, glancing over his shoulder at the resting place of their beloved grandmother.
"Definitely," Hananiah agreed, her voice firm with resolve. Together, they stepped into the night, carrying their grandmother's legacy with them.
