Luca sat across from his father, his heart pounding like a distant drum. The mafia boss, a figure of intimidation and authority, leaned back in his chair, fixing Luca with a gaze that pierced through his soul. "Your grades are slipping, and that's unacceptable," his father said, his voice a low growl. "You need to do better, or else." Luca nodded wordlessly, feeling the weight of expectations crush him further into his seat.
Luca approached Ethan, his expression a mix of desperation and hope. "Hey, you look like you could use a break," Ethan said, patting the spot beside him. Reluctantly, Luca sat down, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. "I can't stand it anymore, Ethan. I need to get away," Luca confessed. "Then let's do it. Let's get out of here," Ethan replied, a spark of excitement in his voice.
Luca and Ethan huddled over the map, their voices hushed with urgency. "We'll take the 10 PM train. It's the least monitored," Ethan suggested, tracing a route with his finger. "What if we get caught?" Luca asked, anxiety creeping into his voice. "We won't. You've got me, remember?" Ethan reassured him, flashing a confident smile that made Luca believe, if only for a moment, that they could really pull this off.
Luca clutched his backpack tightly, his heart racing faster with each step closer to freedom. Ethan walked beside him, his demeanor calm and collected. "This is it, Luca. No turning back now," Ethan said, nodding towards the train as its doors opened with a hiss. Luca took a deep breath, the fear and excitement mixing into a heady rush. Together, they stepped onto the train, leaving behind the shadows of their pasts.
Luca and Ethan wandered through the bustling streets, their eyes wide with wonder. "We did it. We're really free," Luca said, his voice filled with disbelief and joy. "Yeah, we did," Ethan replied, grinning as he took in the sights and sounds of their new world. For the first time in a long time, Luca felt a sense of possibility, a future that was his to shape, free from the chains of his father's expectations.
Luca stood on the rooftop of their temporary hideout, looking out over the city that stretched endlessly before him. Beside him, Ethan leaned against the railing, his gaze fixed on the horizon. "So, what's next?" Ethan asked, breaking the comfortable silence. "I don't know, but for the first time, I'm not scared of what's ahead," Luca replied, a smile tugging at his lips. Together, they watched as the first light of dawn began to paint the sky, a new chapter of their lives just beginning.
