Jaden, a small, wiry boy of sixteen, shuffles down the main corridor, his backpack almost dwarfing him. His uniform sleeves hang past his wrists, and as he passes, a group of taller boys snicker, nudging each other. In the classroom, he slides into the last seat by the window, trying to ignore the whispers and the smirks aimed his way.
Jean, the tallest jock in class, towers by the blackboard, tossing a crumpled note to Harry, the class’s top student. Jaden keeps his head down as laughter erupts. "Hey Jaden, you need a booster seat for the test today?" The teacher, oblivious, drones on about equations as Jaden stares out the window, wishing for anything to change.
Jaden laces up his running shoes, stretching easily above his classmates. His voice is deeper, his shoulders broad, and as he stands, it’s clear he’s now the tallest in the room. During math class, he answers questions with ease, his hand shooting up before anyone else. Ms. Fadi, the teacher, beams at him, and the class murmurs in disbelief at his transformation.
Harry and the once-confident smart kids struggle, their grades slipping as Jaden sets new records on every test. "Jaden, could you help me with these problems? I just… I can't seem to get them right lately," Harry admits quietly, his pride wounded. Meanwhile, the jocks, who once towered over everyone, have stopped growing, their athletic dominance fading as the rest of the class catches up.
Jaden, now the tallest athlete, leaps for a rebound, outpacing Jean and scoring with ease. The crowd erupts in cheers, and even the coach nods in approval. Jean, panting, glances up at Jaden in disbelief, no longer the king of the court.
Jaden tutors a small group at the front, his explanations clear and patient. Harry and even Jean nod along, grateful for his help. "We all have our time to shine," he says with a smile, and the class laughs—not at him, but with him, as equals at last.
what's up shorty Jaden says looking down at Harry, and continues, how much did you get on math today
Harry looks up him, and says with a small voice, only 75
well guess what little guy, I got a full 100, replied Jaden with big condescending smile on his face.
