Timmy adjusted his glasses nervously, his crisp white button-up shirt neatly tucked into his pants, and a perfectly knotted tie completing his look. He clutched his books tightly to his chest, hoping to go unnoticed amidst the throng of students.
Jake, the school's notorious bully, leaned against a locker with a smirk playing on his lips. Spying Timmy, he straightened up and swaggered over, drawing the attention of nearby students.
"Hey, Timmy! Nice tie," he sneered, reaching out with a swift motion to yank up Timmy's waistband, sending his books scattering across the floor.
Timmy flushed with embarrassment, bending down to gather his fallen books. His fingers trembled slightly as he tried to ignore the snickers around him, his resolve quietly building with each taunt.
Timmy stood up straight, adjusting his glasses with renewed confidence. He looked around at the lingering students, his voice steady but firm.
"One day, things will change," he declared, more to himself than to anyone else, but loud enough for Jake to hear.
Sarah, a classmate with kind eyes and a warm smile, approached Timmy and helped him gather his books.
"Don't let him get to you, Timmy," she said softly. "We know you're better than that."
Timmy nodded, a small smile breaking through his earlier embarrassment. "Thanks, Sarah. I’ll show everyone I’m more than just a nerdy kid," he promised, determination lighting up his eyes.
