Wyatt Jacob sat on the worn wooden steps of his family's porch, his vibrant orange hair catching the last rays of sunlight. His green eyes, usually filled with youthful mischief, were now clouded with concern. He glanced back inside, where his younger brother John was playing, blissfully unaware of the sacrifice his brother had made.
Wyatt entered the room, flinching slightly as he felt a familiar sharp pain in his knee. It was a pain he had taken from John earlier that week when his brother had tripped on the sidewalk. John turned to him with a grin. "Look, Wyatt! I think I have superpowers now. I don't feel any pain anymore!" he exclaimed, his eyes wide with excitement.
Wyatt hesitated, knowing he couldn't reveal the truth yet. "That's amazing, John," he replied, forcing a smile. Inside, his heart ached with the weight of his secret. Every injury, every scrape his brother endured, he took upon himself without question.
The voice of God spoke, echoing softly in their minds. [@ch_God_d]"John, the reason you feel no pain is because your brother, Wyatt, has taken it upon himself to spare you. But he cannot bear this burden alone forever."[/@ch_God_d]
John looked at Wyatt, tears welling in his eyes. "I didn't know," he whispered, his voice trembling. Wyatt placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "It's okay, John. I just wanted to protect you," he said softly, his eyes reflecting both love and pain.
John smiled gently at his brother. "We can share the pain, Wyatt. I don't want you to suffer alone," he said. Wyatt nodded, a feeling of relief washing over him. "Together, we can face anything," he replied, knowing that their bond was stronger than ever.
