Lucy sat on the edge of her bed, her eyes scanning the unfamiliar room. Nervous excitement bubbled in her chest as she glanced over at Nicole, her new roommate, who was busy unpacking a box of books. "I can't believe we're finally here," Lucy said, trying to break the ice.
Lucy lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. Her thoughts drifted to her childhood, memories of wet sheets and the embarrassment that followed. She sighed with relief, remembering how she had conquered that phase over a year ago. The rhythmic breathing of Nicole lulled her into a peaceful sleep.
Lucy's eyes fluttered open, and she was immediately aware of the dampness beneath her. Horror washed over her as she realized she had wet the bed. As she sat up, she heard a soft sobbing from across the room. Her heart ached at the sound, and she quickly forgot her embarrassment.
Lucy approached Nicole cautiously, her own pajamas still damp. "Are you okay?" she asked gently. Nicole looked up, tears in her eyes, and nodded, though her voice quivered. "I... I wet the bed," she admitted, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
Lucy sat beside Nicole, offering a comforting smile. "It's okay," she said softly. "I did too, last night." Relief flooded Nicole's face as she realized she wasn't alone. The two girls shared a quiet laugh, their initial embarrassment fading away.
"I guess we're officially roommates now," Nicole said, her smile genuine. Lucy nodded, feeling a connection she hadn't expected so soon. Together, they stripped the beds, chatting about their hopes for college and the adventures that lay ahead. A bond had formed, one that promised to grow stronger with time.
