Cade leaned back on the wooden porch swing, a gentle smile playing on his lips as he watched Max, their playful boxer, rest his head on Dhale's lap. The scene was a comforting blend of stillness and companionship.
"Remember the picnic last spring?", Dhale mused, pointing to a picture of Marissa laughing with an armful of wildflowers. Cade nodded, his eyes softening with memories of laughter and shared stories.
"I hope Marissa is feeling better," Cade said, his voice tinged with worry. Dhale sighed, patting Max's head reassuringly. "She'll pull through. She's strong," Dhale replied with quiet confidence.
"We should send her a message," Cade suggested, his eyes lighting up with an idea. Dhale grinned, nodding in agreement. "Max can help," he added, ruffling the dog's ears.
"Praying for your speedy recovery Marissa, from Cade and Dhale," Dhale read aloud, snapping a picture of Max with the heartfelt message. Cade chuckled softly, imagining Marissa's smile when she sees it.
"She'll be back in the park with us soon," Cade said, his voice filled with hope. "And Max will be waiting with his favorite ball," Dhale added, both of them looking forward to brighter days.
