Marvin, the youngest, tapped his foot in time with the music, his eyes closed as he sang along to his own lead vocals. Morton, the second youngest, hummed beside him, his fingers drumming a rhythm on his knees. In the corner, Jeremiah, the third oldest, plucked an imaginary bass guitar, while Timo, the second oldest, mimicked a lead guitar solo with finesse. Josiah, the eldest, shook a tambourine in perfect time.
"We've got something special here, guys," Marvin grinned, his voice barely audible over the music.
Timo, Jeremiah, and Marvin sat cross-legged on the floor, milkshakes in hand. Timo's eyes were alight with excitement.
"I'm thinking of asking Violet to marry me," Timo confessed, the words hanging in the air like a bold declaration.
Jeremiah nodded approvingly, "That's a big step, man. But if it feels right, go for it."
"But what about the band?" Marvin's voice broke the silence, a note of worry lacing his words.
"I can handle both," Timo replied, determination etched on his face.
"Timo, you know Jeffrey's not gonna like this," Jeremiah warned, his tone cautious.
"All these girls screaming for you, you get married, it changes everything," Jeffrey's voice echoed in Timo's mind, though he wasn't physically present.
"I don't care, I'm going to marry her," Timo declared, a defiant edge to his voice.
"Man, I hate it when y’all talk like that about getting married!" Marvin's voice quivered with emotion, "How could you do that to all our fans?"
He turned and fled the room, leaving Timo and Jeremiah in stunned silence.
Jeremiah placed a reassuring hand on Timo's shoulder, "Stick to your guts, man. If marrying Violet is your way out, then do it."
Timo nodded, his resolve unwavering, even as the future of The Jefferson 5 seemed uncertain.
