Zarul sat at the dining table, his eyes fixed on the letter before him. The envelope held a weighty message—a notice for the police entrance exam. His fingers brushed the paper's edge as he spoke aloud, contemplating his future.
"This is it. The chance I've been waiting for. But... am I truly ready?"
Ibu Zarul overheard from the kitchen, her voice filled with warmth and encouragement.
"Zarul, don't overthink it. You can do this! You've always dreamed of becoming a police officer. This is your best opportunity."
Zarul sighed deeply, folding the letter with care.
"But, Ibu... I'm scared of failing. What if I don't pass the exam?"
Ibu Zarul entered, placing a steaming cup of coffee on the table.
"Never fear failure. We must try. Failure isn't the end. What matters is the effort."
Zarul managed a small smile, feeling the comfort of his mother's words.
"You always know what to say. Thank you, Ibu."
Zarul left his house, a determined look on his face as he headed towards the police training center. Memories of his late father surfaced, echoing in his mind.
"Dad always said being a police officer is about protecting the weak and upholding justice. I mustn't fear standing by my principles."
He paused momentarily at a crossroads, the words of his father rekindling his resolve.
"Dad... I'll make sure this dream becomes a reality."
Zarul arrived at the police training center, observing the other candidates gathered outside. Despite the palpable enthusiasm, he felt the weight of expectation pressing down on him.
Amin, his childhood friend, appeared suddenly, clapping him on the back.
"Zarul! You made it!"
Zarul turned, surprised but glad to see his friend.
"Amin, you're here too? I didn't expect us to take the exam together."
"Of course! I've wanted to be a police officer for ages. We’ve been friends forever; I wouldn’t let you do this alone."
Zarul lowered his voice, confessing his fears.
"I'm afraid, Amin. Not sure if I'm strong enough to pass this exam."
Amin placed a reassuring hand on Zarul's shoulder.
"Don't doubt yourself, Zarul. We all have weaknesses, but with determination and effort, we'll succeed. Remember, it's not just about physical strength, but the strength of the heart."
The candidates filed into the building, greeted by the stern gaze of their instructor.
Jurulatih addressed them with authority.
"Alright, candidates, listen up. This exam isn't about who is the best, but who is willing to fight until the end. Remember, being a police officer isn't about seeking praise, but serving the community with dedication."
Zarul exchanged a determined glance with Amin, both filled with resolve. Despite the doubts in his heart, Zarul knew this was the first step towards his dream.
"I'll do my best. For Dad, for Ibu, and for myself."
