Ethan Carter shuffled through the crowded hallway, his worn backpack slung over one shoulder. Despite the grandeur surrounding him, his focus was on survival rather than luxury. Lucas Harrington, an heir to a business empire, leaned casually against a locker, watching Ethan with interest.
"Hey, Ethan, got the answers for tomorrow's history exam?" Lucas asked, his voice a blend of curiosity and condescension.
"Of course, but it won't come cheap," Ethan replied, his eyes meeting Lucas's with a hint of defiance.
Sophie Bennett, a scholarship student like Ethan, approached him hesitantly. "Ethan, you can't keep doing this. What if they find out?"
"I don't have a choice, Sophie. The tuition is insane, and this is the only way I can stay," he explained, the weight of his predicament evident in his voice.
"But you're risking everything. Isn't there another way?" Sophie persisted, her concern genuine.
Headmaster Collins, a stern figure with a reputation for integrity, entered the room. "Ethan Carter, we need to talk," he announced, his tone leaving no room for argument.
"What's this about, sir?" Ethan asked, feigning innocence.
"We've received reports of academic dishonesty, and your name has come up multiple times," Headmaster Collins stated, his gaze unyielding.
Lucas and Sophie stood beside Ethan, their expressions a mix of guilt and solidarity.
"Ethan, you have a choice. Confess and face the consequences, or deny and risk expulsion," Headmaster Collins offered, his voice firm but compassionate.
"I did it. I sold the answers," Ethan admitted, his shoulders slumping under the weight of his confession.
Sophie found Ethan sitting on the steps of the main building, his belongings packed in a small suitcase. "Ethan, I'm so sorry," she whispered, tears in her eyes.
"It's not your fault, Sophie. I knew the risks," Ethan replied, managing a weak smile.
"What will you do now?" Sophie asked, concern lacing her words.
"I don't know, but I have to find a way," Ethan said, determination flickering in his eyes as he looked towards the horizon.
