Arjuna paces restlessly, his hand resting on the hilt of his Gandiva bow. "Brother, the air itself feels heavy. The omens… they are not favorable." He stops, looking towards Yudhishthira, who studies a map on the table, his expression somber and his brow furrowed.
"Omens are whispers, Arjuna. We must rely on dharma, on our duty," Yudhishthira responds, not looking up. His voice carries the weight of responsibility, a calm amidst the storm of uncertainty swirling around them.
"Duty? When every instinct screams of impending disaster? When the very earth seems to tremble with the weight of what is to come?" Arjuna questions, his voice strained with doubt.
Yudhishthira finally looks up, his eyes filled with a weariness that belies his outward calm. "We have chosen this path. We have exhausted all other options. This war is not our desire, but it is upon us." His words, though steady, reveal the burden of leadership he carries.
"But the cost… so many lives. Brothers against brothers, teachers against students… the very fabric of our world will be torn," Arjuna laments, his heart heavy with the knowledge of the coming conflict.
Yudhishthira lets out a sigh, his gaze falling back to the map. "The nature of dharma is complex, Arjuna. Sometimes, difficult choices must be made. We can only act according to our conscience, and hope that the consequences, however terrible, are ultimately just." His words offer little comfort, yet they are all they have.
"Hope… is that all we have?" Arjuna asks, his voice a whisper of despair. He looks to his brother, seeking reassurance.
"It is what sustains us. And, of course, our skill. And our belief that what we are doing, regardless of the sadness and deaths, will ultimately bring a form of justice to the land. Please, try to rest. Tomorrow, we must face what is to come," Yudhishthira replies, his voice firm yet gentle.
Arjuna clenches his jaw, fighting an inner battle. The sounds of men adjusting armor and horses whinnying are the final notes before the scene fades into the anticipation of dawn's inevitable arrival.
