Lucy reclined on a velvet chaise, her silk dress shimmering in the light, a tablet in hand as she scrolled through designer catalogs. The world around her was a cocoon of comfort—servants glided by, carrying trays of pastries and juice, while laughter echoed from the garden. "I wish every morning could be just like this," she mused aloud, gazing at the endless blue sky.
Mirabel and Winnie sat cross-legged on the faded rug, textbooks open between them, sharing stories and laughter despite their modest surroundings. The air was tinged with hope and resilience, even as the world outside seemed determined to remind them of their limitations. "Maybe one day, we'll see more than just this street," Mirabel said, her voice soft but resolute. "I'm not sure what a fancy life feels like, but at least we have each other," Winnie replied, squeezing her friend's hand.
Lucy arrived, her presence radiant yet sincere, as she handed out ice cream cones with a warm smile. Mirabel and Winnie welcomed her, their eyes lighting up at the gesture. "You two always make my day brighter," Lucy said, her voice gentle. "You never make us feel different, Lucy," Mirabel replied gratefully, her tone touched with emotion.
Lucy encouraged her friends to try on beautiful dresses, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Winnie hesitated, glancing at the price tags, but Lucy's enthusiasm was infectious. "This isn't about money—it's about enjoying moments together," Lucy insisted, draping a soft shawl over Winnie's shoulders. "I never thought I'd wear anything this lovely," Winnie admitted, her eyes wide with wonder.
Mirabel looked away, her voice trembling as she spoke. "Sometimes, I worry you'll get tired of us... of our world," she confessed. Lucy immediately reached for her hand, her gaze earnest. "I care about you both, not because of where you come from, but because of who you are," she assured them, her words cutting through the uncertainty.
Winnie pulled out a notebook, her cheeks flushed with excitement. "Let's write down our dreams—no matter how impossible they seem," she suggested. Lucy smiled, determination in her eyes. "We'll make them happen. Together," she declared, as Mirabel nodded, her heart full of hope.
