A young boy named Raj climbed into the back of a vibrant green auto rickshaw, his school bag resting on his lap. The driver, an elderly man named Ramesh, glanced back with a warm smile, his eyes crinkling behind wire-framed glasses as he started the engine.
"Off to school, eh? Always a busy morning," he remarked, navigating through the crowded road with practiced ease.
Ramesh adjusted the rear-view mirror, ensuring the path was clear. "You know, Raj, there's a lot to learn about staying safe on these roads," he began, his voice carrying the wisdom of years spent on the streets.
"Like what?" Raj asked, his curiosity piqued as he looked out at the bustling scene around them.
"Well, first, always pay attention to traffic signals, even when you're in a hurry. They're there to keep everyone safe," Ramesh explained, nodding towards the illuminated red light. "And always wear your seatbelt if you have one. It may seem simple, but it's important."
"I always see people ignoring those rules," Raj admitted, a hint of concern in his voice.
"Yes, some do," Ramesh agreed, his tone turning serious. "But safety is about being mindful and respecting the rules, even if others don't. It’s about protecting yourself and those around you."
Raj nodded thoughtfully, absorbing the lessons shared by the seasoned driver.
Ramesh pulled over to the side, bringing the rickshaw to a gentle stop. "Here we are, safe and sound," he said with a satisfied smile.
"Thanks for the ride and the advice, Uncle Ramesh," Raj replied, stepping onto the sidewalk with a wave.
Raj watched the colorful rickshaw merge into the distance, feeling grateful for the wisdom shared by Ramesh. "I’ll remember these lessons," he thought, stepping forward to join his classmates.
