Lucas traced the letters on a picture book with his finger, his brow furrowed in concentration. He glanced over at Muffin, who thumped her tail and nudged a book closer with her nose.
"Do you want to read with me, Muffin?"
"Woof!" came the enthusiastic reply, making Lucas giggle.
