Lulu the Lioness, wearing a red bow, stands at the front of the room, her paws on a stack of picture books. Kito the Chameleon, shimmering with rainbow colors, perches on the windowsill, eager and attentive. "Hello, everyone! Are you ready for a Swahili adventure?" "Yes, Lulu! I can’t wait to learn new words," replies Kito, his eyes wide with excitement.
Lulu lifts a bright yellow banana and grins. "This is 'ndizi' in Swahili. Can you say 'ndizi'?" "Ndizi!" shouts Kito, his tail curling in excitement. They giggle together and pick up a juicy mango. "And this is 'embe.' Mango means 'embe' in Swahili," Lulu explains.
Kito points to a tall giraffe munching leaves. "What do we call a giraffe in Swahili, Lulu?" "That's 'twiga'!" Lulu answers, stretching her neck playfully. "Twiga! And what about zebra?" Kito wonders aloud. "Zebra is 'punda milia,'" Lulu says, drawing stripes in the air.
Lulu hands Kito a red balloon. "Red is 'nyekundu.' Can you find something 'nyekundu'?" "My favorite hat is nyekundu!" Kito laughs, donning a bright red cap. Together, they match blue ('bluu'), yellow ('manjano'), and green ('kijani') balloons to objects in the room.
Lulu strums the guitar and starts to sing a cheerful song, mixing English and Swahili words. "Sing with me: 'Hello, jambo! Banana, ndizi!'" "Jambo, ndizi, twiga, embe!'" chants Kito, his voice ringing out. Their friends join in, clapping and dancing to the rhythm.
Lulu waves her paw, her heart full of joy. "You did amazing today! Remember to use your new Swahili words," she says warmly. "Asante, Lulu! I can’t wait for our next safari," says Kito, and together they promise to keep learning and exploring, one word at a time.
