Mina, the older sister, kneads dough at the wide wooden table, her hands dusted with flour. Lila, her younger sibling, chops fresh herbs, her laughter lilting through the kitchen. The air hums with anticipation as they prepare for another busy day at the market.
"Mina, do you think the village children will like the new cheese buns today?"
"They always love your recipes, Lila. And today, let’s teach them something special while we cook," replies Mina, glancing at her sister with a warm smile.
Children cluster around the stall, eyes wide as Lila shapes dough into animal figures. Mina explains the origins of their recipes, pointing to a world map pinned behind them.
"Did you know bread is made differently all over the world? In France, they bake baguettes, while in India, they make naan on hot stones."
"And every loaf starts with just three simple ingredients: flour, water, and yeast. When we add yeast, it eats sugar and makes bubbles—see?" Lila lifts a bowl of bubbling dough, the children giggling at the sight.
Mina guides a small boy’s hands as he braids challah, while Lila demonstrates how to safely fry dough balls. The sisters ask questions about math and science.
"If we double our recipe, how many cups of flour will we need?"
"Watch how the dough puffs up when we fry it—what do you think causes that?" The children shout out answers, their eyes bright with curiosity.

Lila tells stories about different cultures and their traditions, using each bread as a prop. The children munch on samples, eager to learn more.
"In Greece, families make a special bread called 'Vasilopita' for New Year’s Day. Whoever finds the coin inside is lucky all year!"
"And in Mexico, 'Pan de Muerto' is made to honor loved ones during the Day of the Dead," adds Mina, passing a sweet, round loaf around.
Mina and Lila encourage the children to share what they’ve learned at home, their hearts full from a day of teaching and giving.
"When we share food, we share stories—and that brings everyone closer,"
"Tomorrow, let’s try a new recipe and learn something new together," says Mina, her eyes twinkling in the lantern light.
Mina and Lila sit side by side, their aprons stained and faces glowing with pride. They talk softly about the day’s lessons and dream up new ideas for tomorrow.
"I think today was our best market day yet, Mina,"
"Every day is special when we teach and learn together, Lila," replies Mina, as the sisters gaze at the stars, ready for another day of sharing bread and knowledge.
