Annabeth lay on the couch, wrapped in a thick patchwork quilt, her stomachache moving like a wave through her body. Piper moved quietly around the cabin, gathering herbs and a kettle to brew a soothing tea. "I hate being sick," she murmured, trying to manage a weak smile. "I know, but I've got the perfect remedy," Piper replied, her voice gentle and reassuring. She placed the kettle on the stove, the soft hiss of steam joining the symphony of rain.
Piper sat beside Annabeth, holding a steaming mug. "Here, drink this," she urged softly. Annabeth accepted it gratefully, taking small sips that seemed to ease her discomfort almost immediately.
"Thank you, Piper. You're a lifesaver," Annabeth said, her voice filled with gratitude. Piper smiled, brushing a stray hair from Annabeth's forehead.
"Remember when we faced that giant spider in the labyrinth?" Piper chuckled, her eyes sparkling with the memory. Annabeth nodded, her spirits lifting as the tale unfolded.
"And you saved us by singing that song," Annabeth added, a genuine smile spreading across her face. Piper laughed, a sound like music in the cozy room.
"It's times like these that remind me how lucky I am to have you as a friend," Piper confessed, her tone sincere and heartfelt. Annabeth reached out, squeezing Piper's hand in silent agreement.
"Same here, Piper. You're more than a friend; you're family," Annabeth replied, her voice rich with emotion.
Piper checked on Annabeth one last time, finding her friend asleep, her breathing calm and even. Piper smiled, feeling a sense of fulfillment and contentment.
"Good night, Annabeth," she whispered softly, settling into an armchair nearby, ready to keep watch over her friend throughout the night.
