Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) held Krypto’s leash—a mere formality, since the superdog zigged and zagged with uncontainable energy, tongue lolling. She grinned, letting herself drift with him through the clouds, savoring the rare tranquility of a night off. Neither noticed the faint shimmer in the air nearby, nor the impish, grinning figure that watched from the folds of reality itself.
Mister Mxyzptlk, the 5th dimensional imp, twirls his hat and cackles quietly. As the light fades, Kara blinks, suddenly low to the ground, fur bristling in the wind, while Krypto finds himself hovering upright, cape fluttering and hands—hands!—twitching in confusion. "Let’s see how they handle a little switcheroo!" he whispers, vanishing with a snap.
Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) enters, her armor glinting from the city’s lights outside. She pauses, brow furrowed, watching Kara spin in a circle and bark, then leap onto the couch and nosing at a throw pillow. "Kara? Are you feeling all right?" she asks, concern lacing her tone. Suddenly, Krypto, in Kara’s form, bounds over and licks her Face. "Okay, something is definitely wrong."
Diana gently holds Krypto’s hands—Kara’s hands?—and asks a series of questions, piecing together the bizarre events. "This feels like something only one being could pull off," she mutters, glancing at the ceiling. Diana retrieves her lasso and sets out, determination in her stride, to hunt down the source of the chaos.
"You know, it’s amazing what you can do with words in this dimension," she muses, weaving their conversation until Mxyzptlk, frustrated, exclaims his name backwards in protest: "Kltpzyxm!" Instantly, he pops out of existence with a sputter, magic unraveling across the skyline.
"What just happened?" Kara asks, voice shaky with lingering embarrassment. Diana wraps an arm around her, recounting the impish ordeal as they collapse onto the couch, Krypto curling up beside them. Kara blushes, hiding her face in her hands. "God, this is embarrassing," she mutters. "It wasn’t that bad," Diana teases, lips curving in a sly smile. "Besides, you were kind of cute when you acted all dog like." "Don’t you even start," Kara groans, but even she can’t help but smile, the warmth between them filling the room as the city night falls peacefully outside.
