Ruby Rose clutched her side, her breath ragged. Penny Polendina stood beside her, eyes scanning for their pursuers. Suddenly, Adam and his White Fang cohorts emerged from the darkness, weapons drawn. "You've got nowhere to run, Ruby," Adam sneered, his blade gleaming ominously.
Just as Adam lunged, a blue flash streaked through the air. Megaman, with his armored suit shimmering under the moonlight, intercepted the attack, causing Adam to stagger back. "Not today, Adam," he declared, his voice firm.
Ruby watched, awe-struck, as her childhood friend held his ground. Jaune Arc arrived on the scene, his expression a mix of relief and confusion. "Ruby, are you alright?" he asked, concern etched on his features.
Megaman glanced at Jaune, his voice calm despite the chaos. "We need to get Ruby to safety. Trust me, Jaune, there's more at stake than you know."
Jaune watched them leave, conflicted. Back at Beacon Academy, he relayed the night's events to Yang Xiao Long, Ruby's older sister. "There's something Megaman said... about Ruby being a cyborg," Jaune confessed.
Yang sighed, her gaze softening. "When she was young, Dr. Light saved her with technology. She's part human, part machine," she explained, her voice filled with a mix of pride and sadness.
Ruby appeared on the scene, her new armor glinting in the sunlight. It was reminiscent of Megaman's, yet distinctly her own. Jaune couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as he watched her with Megaman and Penny.
"I'm not hiding anymore," Ruby declared, her voice resolute. "Thanks to my friends, I can embrace who I am," she added, exchanging a warm glance with Megaman.
"Everything's going according to plan, sensei," Adam reported, his voice dripping with ambition. The woman nodded, her expression unreadable, as she surveyed the blueprints scattered before them.
"We must prepare for what's coming," Dr. Light urged, glancing at the blueprints of Megaman and Ruby that adorned the walls. Qrow Branwen paced nearby, his frustration evident.
"Agreed," Ozpin nodded, his gaze steady. General Ironwood lingered in the background, eyes fixed on the plans, plotting their next move.
