Jason Todd stood alone, his Red Hood helmet resting under his arm. His eyes scanned the dark waters, memories of his past as Robin flooding his mind. He remembered the camaraderie, the trust, and ultimately, the betrayal. "How did it all go so wrong?" he muttered to himself, bitterness lacing his words.
"You shouldn't be here, Jason," Batman said, his voice a mixture of authority and regret.
Jason clenched his fists, his resolve hardening. "And you should have saved me," he retorted, his voice breaking through the silence like a gunshot. "But instead, I was left to die." The words hung in the air, a reminder of the chasm that now lay between them.
He paused under the flickering neon sign of a rundown diner, looking at his reflection in a puddle. The face staring back was both familiar and foreign. "What does it mean to be a hero?" he pondered, his thoughts drifting to the people he had saved and the criminals he had punished. Was he truly a hero, or just a man seeking vengeance?
"You've changed, Jason. This isn't who you are," Nightwing called out, trying to reach the friend he once knew.
Jason laughed bitterly, his voice carrying over the night air. "Maybe it's who I was always meant to be," he replied, his heart a battlefield of doubt and conviction.
The city needed him, but he couldn't forget the pain, the betrayal. "I won't be a pawn in Batman's game," he vowed, his voice steady with newfound determination. "I'll do what needs to be done—my way."
He knew the road ahead would be fraught with challenges, but for the first time, he felt at peace with his choices. "I may not be their hero," he thought, "but I'm still a hero in my own eyes." And with that, he donned the Red Hood helmet, ready to face whatever Gotham had to throw at him.
