Draco Malfoy and Serpent stood in front of the imposing desk of Professor Dumbledore. The room's silence was broken only by the soft rustle of Dumbledore's robes as he approached them. His eyes, twinkling with a mix of disappointment and understanding, met theirs. "Both of you have been called here for your behavior," he began, his voice calm yet firm.
Serpent quickly interjected, casting a sideways glance at Draco. "It was all Draco's idea. I just followed along," he declared, shifting the blame entirely.
Draco felt a pang of betrayal as his so-called friend threw him under the bus. The weight of Dumbledore's gaze was heavy as he pronounced the punishment, "Draco, you will be resorted into Gryffindor and stay with a fellow Gryffindor student."
Draco hesitated at the entrance, his reluctance evident as he stepped into what was now his new world. He had chosen Harry Potter, the only option that seemed remotely tolerable, though the irony was not lost on him. As he settled into the common room, the reality of his situation began to sink in.
Harry approached, surprise etched on his face at seeing someone identical to himself. "Who are you?" he asked, curiosity mingling with confusion.
Draco took a deep breath, "I'm Draco, or at least I thought I was. Turns out, I'm more like you than I ever imagined."
Draco's transformation was gradual but undeniable. His features began to mirror Harry's, a testament to the curse Lucius Malfoy had lifted before sending him away. Vernon Dursley, grumbling but unwilling to provoke the wizarding world, reluctantly accepted his new charge.
Draco and Harry sat in the small bedroom they now shared, their identical reflections in the window a silent confirmation of their newfound bond. "I'm sorry for everything," Draco admitted, sincerity in every word.
Harry nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Let's start fresh. We've got a lot to catch up on," he replied, a sense of camaraderie forming between them.
Draco and Harry sat side by side, poring over potion books, their heads bent in concentration. The rivalry that once defined them was replaced by a partnership, each eager to help the other succeed.
"I never thought I'd be studying with Draco Malfoy," Harry mused, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"And I never thought I'd enjoy it," Draco replied, a newfound warmth in his tone.
Draco was no longer the outsider he had feared he'd become. The Gryffindors, though initially wary, had come to accept him as one of their own. He and Harry had forged a bond that transcended their past conflicts, a testament to the power of understanding and forgiveness.
"Welcome to the family," Harry said, clapping Draco on the back.
A sense of belonging filled Draco, something he had secretly longed for. "It's good to be home," he replied, contentment in his voice.
