Ivy stepped off the boat with Amy and their five cousins. Rame was a land of promise, but one with strict rules. "I can't believe we're finally here," Ivy said, her eyes wide with a mixture of awe and apprehension.
As the officer examined the passports, Amy noticed his frown. "Is there a problem?" she asked, her voice steady despite her nerves. Officer glanced up, "One of you is listed as under 18," he said, pointing to Ivy's passport. Ivy blinked in surprise, "There must be a mistake. I'm 27!"
Cousin Lily, the youngest, giggled, "You look just like one of us now!" she teased Ivy, who tugged at the uncomfortable collar of her borrowed uniform. Ivy sighed, "I guess I'm going back to school after all," she said with a wry smile.
Ivy sat nervously among her cousins, clutching her pencil as the proctor announced the start of the test. Cousin Max leaned over, "Just do your best. We're all in this together," he whispered encouragingly.
Cousin Sarah spotted their names and shouted, "We made it to high school!" The group erupted in cheers, except for Ivy, whose face fell as she read her own result. She had been assigned to middle school. Amy placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, "It's just a number, Ivy. We'll help you through this," she assured.
Ivy looked at her cousins, each wearing their new uniforms. "I guess I have a chance to experience something new," she said, trying to embrace her unexpected journey. Max grinned, "And you have us as your mentors now," he joked, earning a chorus of laughter from the group. Together, they watched the stars begin to twinkle above, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
