Joseph, seventeen and bright-eyed, walks toward his brothers, his multicolored robe billowing in the breeze. The other brothers cluster near the sheep, casting sideways glances at their younger sibling, resentment flickering in their eyes.
Jacob, their father, stands at a distance, watching with pride as Joseph approaches.
"My son, your dreams are a sign of great things. Wear this coat with honor,"
"Thank you, father. I will not let you down,"
Reuben, the eldest, leans closer to Judah, voice low with frustration.
"Does he think he’s better than us because of a dream and a coat? Every day, father favors him more,"
"If he speaks of ruling over us again, I may not be able to hold my tongue,"
Joseph approaches, eager to share his latest vision. His brothers’ faces harden as he recounts sheaves of wheat bowing down before his own.
Simeon, fists clenched, mutters, "One day, we’ll see how high his dreams take him."
The brothers exchange glances, a silent agreement passing between them. They seize Joseph, stripping him of his coat and throwing him into a dry, shadow-filled pit. The sound of his protests echoes off the stone walls.
"Brothers, why do you do this? I have done nothing but love you!"
"We’ll see what comes of your dreams now," Judah replies coldly.
Reuben stares into the flames, guilt weighing heavy on his shoulders.
"Have we gone too far? He was our brother,"
"What’s done is done. Let us not speak of it again," Judah insists.
The flames flicker, casting long shadows as the brothers prepare their tale for Jacob.
Jacob[/@ch_2] collapses to his knees, clutching the bloodied coat, his voice breaking the silence.]
"My son, my beloved Joseph! Surely a wild beast has devoured him,"
The brothers stand silently, eyes lowered, as their father’s cries fill the night. Mourning settles over the household like a heavy fog, grief and guilt intertwining.
Joseph[/@ch_1], now a servant, stands tall despite his chains, his eyes reflecting both sorrow and determination.]
He surveys the new world before him—statues and palm trees, the Nile shimmering beyond the city walls. Hope flickers in his heart, a quiet resolve to endure and rise above betrayal.
"I will not let despair claim me. Someday, my dreams will carry me home,"
