The students of Camas High School milled about, their chatter mixing with the hum of amplifiers and the occasional burst of music as the sound crew tested the equipment. The sky was a canvas of orange and pink, promising a perfect night for a concert. Amidst the throng of teenagers, a group of friends emerged, anticipation lighting up their faces.
Ella, a spirited girl with a penchant for adventure, led the pack. "Where are the others? They can't miss this!" Jake, her best friend, shrugged, his gaze sweeping the crowd. "They said they'd be here by now," he replied, adjusting his cap as the bass thudded through the air.
Ella felt the music in her bones, her feet tapping to the infectious rhythm. Nina, another friend, joined them, breathless and grinning. "Sorry I'm late! Got caught up in the crowd," she shouted over the music. The three of them moved closer to the stage, their excitement reaching a crescendo with the music.
Mia, another friend, appeared beside them, her eyes sparkling with delight. "Found you guys!" she exclaimed. The group laughed, their spirits lifted by the music and the reunion. They danced together, the world beyond the school courtyard fading into insignificance.
The group swayed to the rhythm, their voices joining the chorus of the crowd. "This is unforgettable," Ella shouted, her face glowing with joy. The stars twinkled above, as if dancing to the beats themselves.
Jake sighed contentedly, "We need to do this more often," he said, looking around at his friends. They nodded in agreement, the warmth of the evening lingering in their hearts. As they made their way out, the echoes of music and laughter followed them into the night.
