Ranger Mia, a kind-eyed woman in olive green, adjusts her wide-brimmed hat while preparing her clipboard and water bottle.
"Welcome to the sanctuary! Today, you'll see what it takes to care for our sleepy, leafy friends," she says with a warm grin.
Ranger Mia stops and gestures upward, her voice hushed in awe.
"That's Willow—our oldest koala. She loves this tree more than anywhere else," she whispers, motioning for silence so as not to disturb the sleepy marsupial. The koala blinks, then curls tighter, unbothered by the visitors below.
Ranger Mia selects a branch and holds it out, inviting the koala to sniff and nibble.
"Each koala has their favorite type of gum leaf. Picky eaters, aren’t they?" she laughs. The young koala munches noisily, its soft ears flicking in contentment.
Ranger Mia gently strokes the koala’s back, murmuring soothing words.
"Let’s see if Luna is gaining weight—she’s been recovering from a cold," she explains, weighing the koala with practiced care. The animal relaxes under her touch, reassured by Mia’s calm presence.
Ranger Mia[/@ch_1] listens intently to a report of a koala seen on the ground by the roadside.]
"We need to move fast—sometimes, koalas on the ground are hurt or disoriented," she says, grabbing a rescue kit and motioning for help. The two hurry along a muddy track, boots splashing in puddles as thunder rumbles in the distance.
Ranger Mia[/@ch_1] carefully lifts a damp, shivering koala from the roadside. With practiced hands, she wraps it in a soft towel and checks for injuries. The stormy sky looms overhead, but the ranger’s determination brings warmth to the scene.]
"You’re safe now, little one. Let's get you dry and comfy," she murmurs, smiling softly at the rescued koala. As they walk back toward the shelter, the rain eases, and a rainbow arcs faintly above the eucalyptus grove—a gentle promise of hope and care.
