Salim and his cousin Mariam dash towards the waves, only to halt in dismay. "Look, Mariam! There's trash everywhere!" Mariam frowns, surveying the plastic bottles, bags, and wrappers that clutter the sand. "So many plastic bottles, bags, and wrappers. This is not good."
Salim turns to Grandfather Ahmed, concern etched on his face. "Grandfather, why is there so much plastic at the beach?" Grandfather Ahmed sighs, setting his cup down. "Plastic is a big problem, my children. When people throw it on the ground, it can go into the sea. Fish, turtles, and birds get hurt. Some animals eat plastic and get very sick."
Miss Noor announces a special week-long project on environmental protection. Salim raises his hand enthusiastically. "Can Mariam and I make a comic story?" "What will your comic be about?" Mariam replies, "Plastic pollution in the sea, and how we can help." "Excellent idea! Use facts and be creative."
"Did you know that plastic takes 500 years to break down?" Mariam shares, eyes wide with disbelief. "And that turtles think plastic bags are jellyfish?" Salim adds, shaking his head. Together, they weave facts into their comic, creating a talking plastic bottle urging, "Please recycle me!"
"We want to keep the UAE clean and safe," Salim begins, his voice steady. "Plastic hurts animals and the sea. If we all help, we can make a big change," Mariam adds passionately. The class erupts in applause, and Miss Noor beams with pride. "Wonderful job! You used your research and your creativity to share an important message."
"Look!" Salim exclaims, eyes alight with joy. "People are really helping!" Mariam smiles, the sight of children and adults working together warming her heart. "Yes, one small story helped start something big."
