The squirrel paused, nose twitching as something caught its eye—a pebble on the forest floor shimmered with an otherworldly light. It hopped down, tiny paws brushing the dew from emerald grass, and approached the glowing stone, which seemed to pulse with silent promise.
The squirrel circled the pebble, imagining the possibilities. "Endless nuts, a mountain of acorns just for me—what a life that would be," it whispered, tail flicking in anticipation. Its gaze drifted upward, picturing the tallest tree in the forest, branches stretching so high the clouds could be touched.
The squirrel edged closer, watching as the bird’s nest wobbled precariously. "That little bird is having such a hard time. Maybe...maybe I could help," it mused, feeling a warmth in its chest. The pebble’s shimmer brightened, as if urging a selfless wish.
The squirrel, heart pounding, placed a gentle paw on the pebble. "I wish for the little bird’s nest to be filled with softness and warmth, so she can rest easy," it declared, voice trembling with hope. The pebble glowed, then faded, its magic spent.
The bird hopped to the squirrel, eyes bright with gratitude. "Thank you, dear friend. I have never known such kindness. Let me sing a song for you, sweeter than any treasure," she chirped, her melody weaving through the trees like a ribbon of hope.
The squirrel felt a happiness deeper than any pile of nuts or tallest tree could offer. "I may not have riches, but I have something better—a friend’s happiness and the sweetest song in the world," it thought, heart full as the forest settled into peaceful night.
