High among the twisting limbs, a great serpent slithered, its emerald scales blending perfectly with the dappled green and gold of the foliage. Below, the city’s champion, Ladybug, patrolled the park alone, her red and black suit nearly camouflaged against the scattered petals of late-blooming flowers. The air was thick with anticipation, every chirp and distant horn muffled by the velvet dusk. The snake’s tongue flickered, tasting the air, as it prepared to strike.

Without warning, the serpent lunged from the shadows, its powerful coils wrapping around Ladybug before she could react. She gasped, twisting desperately, but the grip only tightened, pressing her arms to her sides. Her yoyo slipped from her hand, tumbling into the grass below, lost for now. "Let me go! I have to protect Paris!"

The serpent’s forked tongue darted out, tasting her fear, brushing her cheek. Ladybug shuddered, trying to twist away, but the coils only squeezed more tightly. She cried out, breath coming in short, panicked bursts, the pressure making it difficult to focus her thoughts. Her mask was slightly askew, revealing frightened blue eyes.
With slow, deliberate movement, the serpent’s mouth enveloped Ladybug, its glistening fangs passing harmlessly by her as she was drawn inside. Her boots scraped against rough bark as she was pulled deeper, her struggles growing weaker. The world narrowed to slick darkness and the muffled sound of her own heartbeat, echoing in her ears. "Someone… please… help…" her voice faded.
The serpent let out a long, rattling burp, a small scrap of red fabric fluttering down to the ground. Sated, it coiled itself into a heavy knot and settled in for a long, deep sleep. Below, the night continued as if nothing had happened, the only sign of the struggle a single, lonely yoyo lying beneath the tree.
Ladybug[/@ch_1] presses weakly against the stomach lining.]
Inside, Ladybug sobbed softly, her tears lost in the humid darkness. Every movement was met with resistance, the heat unbearable, her strength fading as the serpent’s body slowly worked to digest its meal. Though she fought as best she could, hope ebbed away with each passing moment. Her legacy, and her pain, would remain a secret beneath the ancient trees of Paris.
