Tomo sat at her desk, twirling a pen absentmindedly, her mind drifting away from the lesson. Across the room, Jun was busy trying to keep up with the rapid-fire French phrases being thrown around.
"This class is a tornado," Tomo muttered under her breath, just as the teacher called for a group activity.
In the chaos, a strange, golden glow enveloped the classroom, unnoticed by the bustling students. Jun glanced over at Tomo, rolling his eyes at her lack of focus, but as their eyes met, the glow intensified, and everything went black.
Tomo jolted awake, her head spinning. But something was off—her room didn't have sports posters. She glanced down and gasped, seeing the unmistakable form of Jun's body.
"What on earth?" she exclaimed, her voice sounding foreign to her ears.
Meanwhile, in another part of town, Jun was staring into a mirror, wide-eyed, at the reflection of Tomo.
"No way... this can't be happening," he murmured, trying to wrap his head around the surreal situation.
Tomo, now in Jun's body, fidgeted with his hands.
"We need to fix this, and fast. The school event is in three days!" she said with urgency.
Jun, inhabiting Tomo's form, nodded. "How do we even begin to swap back? Maybe it was something in French class?"
They brainstormed ideas, each more outlandish than the last, but the key seemed to lie in retracing their steps back to the classroom.
Tomo and Jun stood in the center of the room, scanning for anything that might have triggered the swap.
"Remember, we looked at each other just before it happened," Jun recalled.
"Maybe it's connected to that," Tomo suggested, as they both focused on recreating the moment.
Slowly, they felt the familiar warmth of the golden glow envelop them once more.
"That was... bizarre," Tomo said with a laugh, stretching her arms in delight.
"Yeah, but I think I understand you a bit better now," Jun admitted, a newfound appreciation in his eyes.
The experience had taught them both about empathy and the complexities of their friendship, leaving them with a stronger bond than ever before.
Tomo and Jun stood side by side, their camaraderie evident to anyone who saw them.
"Ready to make this event unforgettable?" Jun asked with a grin.
"Absolutely," Tomo replied, feeling more connected to her friend—and herself—than ever before.
