Ethan, a lanky 14-year-old with tousled hair, sits cross-legged on the couch, nervously flipping through a graphic novel. The sound of the doorbell startles him, and he glances around, realizing his parents are already gone for the week. He stands, smoothing his shirt, and heads for the front door, heart thumping in his chest.
Sophie, the new babysitter, offers a warm, reassuring smile as Ethan opens the door. "Hi, you must be Ethan! I'm Sophie—your parents asked me to help you get settled. I hope you don't mind," she says, her voice gentle. Ethan nods, a bit shy, and invites her inside, trying not to stare at how effortlessly cool she seems.
Sophie begins asking questions about Ethan's favorite movies and hobbies, and soon they're laughing over shared stories about embarrassing school moments. After a comfortable pause, "You know, I've always wanted to be a stylist for women. It's kind of a dream of mine," she confides, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Ethan grins, intrigued, and asks her about her favorite styles and trends.
"Would you mind if I practiced some of my styling on you? Just for fun," Sophie asks, turning to Ethan with an eager, hopeful look. After a moment's hesitation, Ethan shrugs and says, "Sure, why not? It could be fun,". Sophie's face lights up and she starts gathering her supplies, laying them out with the precision of a true artist.
"There! Take a look," Sophie says, handing Ethan a mirror. Ethan stares in awe at the beautiful girl staring back, hardly recognizing himself. A strange, happy excitement bubbles up inside him as he twirls, watching the dress flare around his knees.
"I… actually really like this. Do you think you could do it again sometime?" Ethan asks, voice tinged with hope. "Of course! I'd love to," Sophie replies, her expression warm and supportive. As the evening stretches on, the two settle into a quiet camaraderie, planning more creative sessions and embracing the joyful freedom of self-expression together.
