Elena Rivera stepped out of her car, her eyes scanning the towering trees that surrounded her. She had always felt a strange pull towards this place, as if the forest itself was calling her back. "It's just as I remember," she whispered to herself, feeling a mix of nostalgia and anticipation.
Elena adjusted her backpack and ventured deeper into the woods, her flashlight cutting through the darkness. Every sound seemed amplified, the crunch of twigs underfoot and the distant hoot of an owl. "I wonder if it's still there," she mused, recalling the secret hideout she had discovered as a child.
Elena approached the tree, her heart pounding with excitement. Carved into its bark were initials she had etched years ago, now weathered but still visible. "It's been so long," she murmured, running her fingers over the familiar marks.
Suddenly, a soft rustling caught her attention. Elena turned, her flashlight beam revealing a pair of glowing eyes watching her from the shadows. "Who's there?" she called out, her voice trembling slightly.
Lucas, a fellow explorer of the woods and an old friend, smiled warmly. "Elena! I thought I might find you here," he said, his voice a comforting presence in the night. Elena sighed in relief, her initial fear replaced by a sense of camaraderie.
Elena leaned back against the tree, gazing up at the stars. "I'm glad you're here, Lucas," she said softly. "These woods hold so many memories for us," Lucas replied, "It's good to relive them together."
