Austin sat at the table, his feet swinging under the chair, as Mom placed a plate of pancakes in front of him. "Mom, I'm a big boy now, right?" he asked with a hopeful look in his eyes.
"Of course, you are, sweetie," Mom replied with a smile, ruffling his hair. "And big boys get to learn new things, like using the potty!"
Austin looked at the chart with a mix of excitement and apprehension. Mom knelt beside him, pointing at the stickers. "Each time you use the potty, you get to add a sticker. And when you fill the chart, there's a special surprise waiting for you," she explained.
"What kind of surprise?" Austin asked eagerly, his eyes wide with anticipation.
"You'll have to wait and see," Mom winked, adding a playful air of mystery.
Austin climbed onto the stool, his small hands gripping the edges for balance. Dad, who had just returned from work, peered in from the doorway, offering encouragement. "You can do it, buddy. Just take your time," he said, giving a thumbs-up.
Austin nodded, focusing hard. After a moment, he beamed with pride as he succeeded. "I did it!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with triumph.
Mom and Dad clapped their hands, cheering. "We're so proud of you, Austin! You're really growing up," Mom said, her voice full of warmth.
Austin grinned from ear to ear, feeling like a true big boy. "How about we celebrate with some ice cream?" Dad suggested, adding to the joyous atmosphere.
"Yes, please!" Austin replied eagerly, bouncing with excitement.
Austin thought about his achievement, feeling proud and a little tired. Mom sat by his bed, reading a bedtime story. "Remember, every big journey starts with a small step," she said gently.
"I can't wait for tomorrow," Austin whispered, his eyes drooping as he drifted off to sleep, dreaming of more stickers and surprises.
