Maya glanced over at her daughter, Lila, who sat at the table, tracing patterns on the wooden surface with her fingertips. "How did you sleep, sweetheart?" she asked, her voice warm and soothing.
"I had a few dreams, but I don't really remember them," Lila replied softly, her eyes reflecting a hint of lingering worry.
"It's okay not to feel okay sometimes," Maya said, squeezing her daughter's hand gently. "We all have days when we feel anxious, and it's important to be kind to ourselves."
Lila nodded, her brow furrowing slightly. "But what if I can't stop feeling like this?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern.
"That's when we use those special techniques we've talked about," Maya reminded her, a reassuring smile on her face.
"Let's try a breathing exercise," Maya suggested, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. Lila followed suit, mimicking her mother's gentle inhalations and exhalations.
"Imagine a peaceful place," Maya continued softly, "A meadow, a beach, wherever you feel calm and safe."
Lila let her mind drift, her tense shoulders gradually relaxing as she visualized her own serene landscape.
"I feel a little better," Lila admitted, a small smile creeping onto her lips.
"You did great, honey," Maya praised her, wrapping an arm around her daughter's shoulders. "Remember, self-love is about embracing every part of who you are, even the parts that feel scared or uncertain."
Lila leaned into her mother's embrace, feeling the warmth of reassurance and love.
"Can we practice more often?" Lila asked, her eyes bright with determination.
"Of course," Maya replied, her heart swelling with pride. "We'll make it a part of our daily routine, just like brushing our teeth."
Together, they walked down the path, the sunlight guiding their steps as they moved forward with hope and courage.
