Lu awakens, rubbing his eyes and stretching his curly hair toward the ceiling. Today is a special day—he’s going to try using the potty all by himself. The room is filled with excitement and a bit of nervous energy as Lu glances at the big blue potty chair by the door.
Lu pushes his chair closer to the table, glancing between his breakfast and the potty chart. His caregiver kneels beside him, offering an encouraging smile. "Remember, Lu, if you try your best today, you get to pick a shiny new sticker for your chart!" The promise of a reward makes Lu grin, his nerves softening just a little.
Lu waddles in, clutching his favorite stuffed bear for courage. He looks at the potty and takes a determined breath, climbing onto it with a little help. "I can do it, Bear. We’re big kids now," he whispers, trying to remember all the steps he practiced.
Lu looks down, his face scrunching in worry. He hugs his bear tighter, feeling frustration bubble inside. Tears well up, but his caregiver gently wipes them away and kneels to his level. "It’s okay, Lu. Accidents happen to everyone. I’m proud of you for trying," comes the soothing voice, wrapping Lu in a comforting hug.
Lu takes a deep breath, determined to try again. This time, he sits a little more confidently, whispering words of encouragement to himself and his bear. Moments later, the triumphant sound of success echoes, and Lu beams with pride. "I did it! I really did it!"
Lu carefully places his sticker on the chart, pride shining in his eyes. He munches on a cookie, feeling bigger and braver than ever. "Tomorrow, I’ll do it again," Lu declares, already dreaming of more adventures as a big kid.
