Eli sat in his room, surrounded by plush toys and colorful posters of anthropomorphic animals. His heart raced as he heard footsteps approaching the door.
"Just a minute!"
Eli's mom, Sarah entered, her brow raised in curiosity.
"Everything okay in here?"
"Yeah, just cleaning up a bit," Eli replied, forcing a smile.
Sarah follows his gaze, her curiosity piqued.
"What's that?" she asked, stepping closer.
"Oh, just some old stuff I was sorting through," Eli said, attempting to block her view.
Sarah knelt down, gently pulling out the hidden items.
"Eli, you can talk to me about anything, you know that, right?" she said softly.
"I know, it's just... hard to explain," Eli admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
Sarah sat beside Eli, her expression one of patience and love.
"Whatever it is, we'll figure it out together," she assured him.
"Thanks, Mom," Eli said, feeling a weight lift from his shoulders.
Sarah gave Eli a reassuring hug.
"Let's start with what makes you happy," she suggested.
"I think I can do that," Eli replied, a small smile forming on his lips.
