Bernadette stood on the porch, a steaming cup of coffee in hand, watching her two children tumble out of the house and into the wide-open space, their laughter echoing across the fields.
Oliver, the eldest, is already devising a plan to build a fort in the hayloft. Lila, her pigtails bouncing, follows him eagerly. "Let's make it the best fort ever!" he declares, his eyes sparkling with adventure.
Curiosity piqued, she kneels down to open it, revealing a treasure trove of her childhood memories—books, photographs, and old toys. "Look what I found!" she calls out, inviting her children to share in her discovery.
"Did you really play with these, Mom?" Lila asks, holding up a well-worn teddy bear. "Yes, and many adventures were had," Bernadette replies with a smile.
"I love weekends on the farm," Oliver says, leaning against his mother. "There's nowhere else I'd rather be," Bernadette agrees, wrapping an arm around each child.
The children, tired but content, climb into bed, their imaginations still buzzing with the day's discoveries. Bernadette tucks them in, whispering goodnight, knowing that these moments are the true treasures of life.
