Jonah, a prophet known for his wisdom, sits by an open window, contemplating the divine command he received.
"I must go to Nineveh and warn them of their wickedness," he murmurs to himself, troubled by the task.
Jonah approaches a vessel, his heart heavy with fear. Seeking to escape his duty, he boards a ship bound for Tarshish, hoping to flee from the presence of the Lord.
The sailors, panicked, cast lots to find the cause of their misfortune. Jonah, realizing his role in the tempest, steps forward.
"Throw me into the sea, and the storm will cease," he tells them, accepting his fate.
Inside the belly of the whale, darkness envelops Jonah. "I call out to the Lord in my distress, and He answers me," he prays, finding solace in faith.
Jonah, grateful and renewed, stands and gazes at the distant land of Nineveh, resolved to fulfill his mission.
"I will go to Nineveh and deliver the Lord's message," he declares with newfound determination.
Jonah enters the city, his voice echoing through the streets as he warns the people to repent.
The citizens of Nineveh, moved by his words, turn from their ways, and the city is spared from destruction, fulfilling Jonah's divine purpose.
