Lila, a ten-year-old with long brown hair and wide, curious eyes, sat at her desk, clutching a pen. Her fingers trembled slightly as she began her letter to her imaginary friend, Finn.
"Dear Finn, today was hard. I had the nightmare again," she wrote, her small hands pressing the pen deeply into the paper.
In the nightmare, Lila stood alone, her heart pounding in her chest. She could hear the whispers growing louder, each word a reminder of her fears and anxieties. "You're not good enough," they hissed, and she squeezed her eyes shut, wishing to wake up.
"Can you tell me about the dream, Lila?" Dr. Aria Patel asked softly, her eyes kind.
Lila took a deep breath, "It's always the same. I feel so scared and alone. The shadows say things that make me feel bad about myself," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
Despite her best efforts, Lila felt the familiar weight of anxiety settling over her. Her thoughts raced, and she found it hard to concentrate. "What if I get called on and don't know the answer?" she worried silently, her fingers tapping nervously on her desk.
Finn had written, "Dear Lila, remember that you are never alone. You have strength inside you, and the shadows can't take that away. Keep talking to Dr. Aria and believe in yourself."
Lila felt a warmth spreading through her chest as she read the words.
Lila picked up her pen again, ready to write down her thoughts and dreams, both the good and the bad. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but with Finn's encouragement and Dr. Aria's guidance, she felt ready to face whatever came next.
"Dear Finn, today I learned that it's okay to be scared, as long as I keep trying," she wrote, a small smile playing on her lips.
