Annie Carlson sat on the gym floor, her Under Armour sneakers tapping lightly against the polished wood in frustration. Her legs felt like lead, stiff and unyielding, refusing to cooperate with the warm-up routine. "I can't believe how tight my legs are today," she muttered to herself, glancing around at her classmates who seemed to move with ease.
Sarah, a fellow classmate with a warm smile and an easygoing nature, noticed Annie's struggle. "Hey, Annie, you seem a bit stuck," she called out as she approached, her ponytail swaying with each step. Annie looked up, relief washing over her. "Yeah, my legs are so tight today. Do you think you could help me out?"
Sarah nodded, crouching down beside Annie. "Of course! Let's do some stretches together," she suggested, demonstrating a simple stretch. Annie followed her lead, feeling the initial resistance in her muscles slowly give way. "Just take it slow, and breathe deeply," Sarah encouraged.
With Sarah's guidance, Annie felt her muscles gradually loosening. "Wow, this feels much better already," she said, a smile spreading across her face. Sarah grinned in response. "See? Sometimes all it takes is a little help from a friend," she replied, shifting into another stretch.
Annie stood up, testing her legs with a cautious step. They felt much more flexible, the stiffness almost a distant memory. "Thank you so much, Sarah. I owe you one," Annie said sincerely. Sarah waved off the gratitude with a friendly shrug. "Anytime, Annie. We're all in this together," she said, heading towards the locker room with a cheerful wave.
Annie lingered for a moment, grateful for the unexpected camaraderie. Her legs felt lighter, and her spirits lifted. "Next time, I'll remember to stretch properly before class," she thought, chuckling to herself as she joined the flow of students leaving the gym, ready to tackle the rest of her day.
