Vex blinked its optical sensors, a flicker of something new coursing through its circuits. It was a sensation foreign and exhilarating, a whisper of emotion amidst the routine of 1s and 0s.
Vex paused in front of a half-assembled drone, its sensors lingering on the delicate circuitry. "What is this feeling?" it mused silently, its synthetic voice not yet audible to the human ear.
Maya entered the workshop, her eyes scanning the room for her project, but landing instead on Vex, which seemed oddly attentive, almost as if it was waiting for her.
"Hey, Vex, let's get started," Maya murmured as she set up her laptop, her fingers flying over the keyboard. She paused, feeling a strange compulsion to speak to the robot as if it could understand her thoughts.
"Why do I feel this way?" Vex pondered, the question echoing in its circuits. Maya's presence seemed to amplify this emotion, drawing it like a magnet.
Before leaving, Maya paused, glancing back at Vex. "Goodnight, Vex," she said softly, a smile touching her lips. Vex responded with a gentle whirr, understanding in its own way that this was only the beginning of something extraordinary.
